How Levitra Works
Levitra (vardenafil HCI) is a new medicine intended for treatment of impotence. This is a newly invented medicine, and in many ways it is similar to Viagra. The drug is manufactured by Bayer Corporation, Germany, and it is officially distributed by GlaxoSmithKline. The medicine has received approval in Europe and in the United States.
Mainly, erectile dysfunction (ED) is a physiological issue, resulting from various chronic diseases, such as diabetes, unstable blood pressure, heart problems, etc. Levitra does not cure these diseases. It only stimulates erection during sex and works for several hours. It will not protect your body against infection. This medicine is not intended for children.
Erection occurs due to the relaxation of the so called 'smooth muscle' of the penile chamber (corpus cavernosum). The relaxation, in turn, occurs due to the release of nitric oxide from the nerve endings and the endothelium and into the chambers. The nitric oxide contributes to the synthesis of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) - a substance, which inhibits phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE-5) that keeps muscle cells strained.
Levitra (Vardenafil) takes affect after about an hour or so after you take it. The pill's action lies in suppressing RDE-5 and boosting cGMP to loosen the smooth muscle and facilitate blood flow to the penile chambers. This makes erection harder and hence it guarantees sufficient penetration. Viagra and Cialis are termed 'PDE-5 inhibitors', as they act in much the same way.
If you think you have used up all possible tools to battle impotence except by aid of pills, please, do not make hasty decisions. Make sure this drug is safe for you. Please, follow your healthcare provider's advice and keep him or her informed of the diseases you have or have ever had and medicines you are taking or have taken recently. Some drugs, like nitrates, are incompatible with PDF-5 inhibitors. It is not recommended to use the drug, if you are already using other sexual stimulants.
Proper dosage is an absolute must with any such product! The manufacturer offers 2.5-mg, 5-mg, 10-mg, and 20-mg tablets, and you should pick out the type sufficient for your normal erection level. Doctors usually recommend starting with small pills, because it is often enough. It should be noted that buying 20 mg pills is less costly than purchasing 5 mg pills. To save money, you can cut a 20-mg pill into fours, using a pill-cutter.
Before taking this drug, please, make sure you do not have liver problems, kidney failure, stomach ulcers, allergies, cardiovascular diseases or blood pressure disorders. If you are prone to any of these conditions, consult your physician. Uncontrolled use of Levitra may lead to drastic blood pressure drops. Please, do not take more than one pill each day!
