Cialis Professional and Nitrates
Cialis Professional treats erectile dysfunction more effectively than many other medicines. This is a new version of Cialis, and it has a few additional properties. It is easily absorbed by the body and its effect continues for up to 48 hours. Tadalafil is its basic component, and its work lies in inhibiting an enzyme (PDE5), which keeps the smooth muscle of the penis strained and impedes blood flow to the corpus cavernosa. Cialis Professional is a prescription medicine, and it has contraindications.
Although Cialis has a mild hypertensive effect, it can be potentiated by some other drugs, if used concomitantly. Co-administration with nitrates (drugs used for treatment of heart problems) can cause your blood pressure to drop significantly and aggravate existing cardiac disorders. There have been several deaths among tadalafil users, who had underlying cardiovascular diseases.
What makes concomitant use of Cialis Professional with nitrates particularly dangerous is tadalafil's prolonged action. Unlike Viagra, which works for about 8 hours, Cialis Professional's effect lasts more 36 hours on the average. This creates a potential for various hypotension-related side effects, which can be life-threatening.
In order to monitor interaction between tadalafil and nitroglycerin, a research was conducted. The study involved a group of men who had been receiving 20 mg of tadalafil on a daily basis. The object of the study was to determine the time that should elapse after the final dose of Cialis, before nitroglycerin could be administered. The participants were offered a small amount of nitroglycerin at different timepoints after using Cialis (2-96 hours). All subjects experienced side effects within the first 24 hours, and several people showed signs of hypotension between 24 and 48 hours. After 48 hours, none of the participants experienced low blood pressure.
As we can see, at least 48 hours should pass after the last dose of Cialis before nitrates can be used. If you have a history of heart diseases or are undergoing a treatment course, which involves nitroglycerin dosing, Cialis Professional is not for you. If you have already received a dose of tadalafil and need an emergency dose of nitroglycerin, this should be done under close medical supervision. Tadalafil is not recommended for people with underlying vascular risks or those susceptible to blood pressure fluctuations.
